Children, who are called the future of the country, are getting trapped in the quagmire of wages even in this modern era. Childhood is that moment of a man's life, remembering that he passes the whole life, this is the beautiful moment when a person is seen playing, reading, writing and playing, regardless of all the sorrows, worries and responsibilities of the world. When he reaches the stage of maturity and when he comes to know about other realities of life. When troubles, troubles come, he says, better than this were the days of my childhood when there was no worry, it was only reading and playing with friends. What fun it was in my childhood, but not everyone's childhood is like this.
Today, more than half of the country's children are under the age of 14 who work seven days a week. This situation is frightening in India as compared to the world. This child labour has become a curse for our country. Despite the efforts of the government, we have not been able to stop child labour. This malpractice is equally distributed in both the urban and rural areas of the country. Children who should have copy-book, pen-pencil in their hands, today utensils, broom-wipes and burdens have been placed in those hands. Children whose age is less than 14 years and they work for livelihood, then it is called child labour or child labour.
Due to poverty, helplessness, hunger and oppression of parents, today these children are getting trapped in the team of child labour. Poverty is the biggest cause of child labour in India. Many times, due to poverty, many parents get caught in the clutches of people doing child labour. Many times they even lose their hands from the lives of their grandparents. Today our society is passing through inequality. On the one hand the children behind whom their parents are spending thousands of thousands on their future and food, on the other those children who are living a life of hunger, malnutrition and contempt. Many children are poor, orphans or victims of exploitation by some evil person. They do not get enough food, and work is taken from them like an adult person.
There is a need for a lot of improvement in this subject in our society today. The government made a law for child labour, declared it illegal but there has been no visible change in the mindset that should be expected today. This effort of the government has definitely helped in arresting those who illegally employ children below 14 years of age or keep them imprisoned. In this fight to stop child labour, first of all we have to educate our society and make proper arrangements for poverty.
