पहचान : अंग्रेजी के वाक्यों (sentences) में was/were के साथ varb के first form में +ing
लगा रहता है | जबकि हिंदी के वाक्यों के अंत में अथवा क्रिया के साथ 'रहा था', 'रही थी', या
'रहे थे' आदि लगा रहता है |
जैसे:
I was writing a letter. [ English Sentence]
मैं पत्र लिख रहा था | [ हिंदी वाक्य ]
She was distributing sweets. [ English Sentence]
वह मिठाइयाँ बाँट रही थी | [ हिंदी वाक्य ]
Asserative Or Affirmative Sentence:
Structure Of Sentence (वाक्य की बनावट):
A. Asserative Or Affirmative Sentence:
Subject + was/were + V1 + ing + object.
Eg.
तुम उससे कुछ प्रश्न पूछ रहे थे |
You were asking him some questions.
वह घर के लिए भोजन पका रही थी |
She was cooking food for home.
मैं अपने दोस्तों का इंतजार कर रहा था |
I was waiting for my friends.

Negative Sentence:
Structure of Sentence:
Subject + was/were + not + V1 + ing + object.
Example:
1. मैं खेल नहीं रहा था |
I was not playing.
2. वह चल नहीं रहा था |
He was not walking.
3. हम लोग दौड़ नहीं रहे थे |
We were not running.
4. गोपी पढ़ नहीं रहा था |
Gopi was not reading.
5. बच्चे चिल्ला नहीं रहे थे |
Children were not crying.
